Penn & Teller— Fool Us is a competition in magic TV show that features magicians who perform tricks before American magic veteran duo Penn & Teller. The first season was nimbly hosted by Jonathan Ross, and the 3rd season by Fool Us Host Alyson Hannigan.
Each episode starts off by introducing the reason for the series. Penn & Teller come out and sit down at the center stage. They watch hopeful magicians perform their acts before them, in front of a live studio audience. Following each performance, Penn & Teller privately talk while the host interview the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal whether they are aware of how the trick was performed, usually using cryptic words or by noting down the procedure and presenting it privately to the magicians to confirm, the method, in order to avoid divulging the secrets behind the trick.
The fourth season will be broadcasted October 15, 2022.

Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas (season two onward). After each performance, when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was done, the magician(s) that performed it get the Fool Us trophy and a five-star flight for a trip to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act of Penn & Teller’s show also at the Rio Hotel & Casino. The 9th season premiered on 9 October 2021.
Teller states that doublespeak can help people learn new techniques without ruining the trick. If Penn & Teller are wrongor are not able to figure out the method used to perform the trick, the magician is awarded the Fool Us trophy and the possibility of performing in one of Penn and Teller’s Las Vegas shows. A backstage judge, who is knowledgeable about the art of magic industry and privately informed how the trick is performed ahead of the event, makes necessary calls whether Penn & Teller were properly fooled. After each episode, Penn & Teller perform the magic trick of their own.
In the initial season, Jonathan Ross served as a temporary substitute for Penn and Teller’s hosting duties but they returned for the second season. The film was shot at Fountain Studios in London, England for its first season, before moving to the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada for its second season and subsequent seasons.
The magicians who appear in Penn & Teller: Fool Us are usually skilled sleight-of-hand illusionists and performers. Magicians typically increase the mystery of the way they perform their trick by performing with mirrors and smoke or creating confusion through discussions. Season three onward, the top 10 performers who fooled Penn and Teller are invited to return for an episode special from Fool Us in which they each get the chance to show off their tricks again and attempt to fool Penn and Teller to win a $15000 prize. Even though they remain speechless and motionless throughout the course in the production, the veteran duo of Penn and Teller can communicate with each by making subtle gestures. They may also confer with a magician who performs and ask them to repeat an action or provide more information.
